Tall Ships 2010: Interactive mapping

Client WebsiteLaunch Interactive

The Hartlepool Tall Ships 2010 event attracted over 750,000 people to Hartlepool over 4 days. Animmersion developed three mapping solutions to aid Hartlepool Council in the planning and promotion of the event.

An easy access planning tool gave site planners a non-technical CAD tool enabling them to drag and drop common features onto an accurate map. This tool allowed quick layout of various scenarios providing annotation, measuring and print features. Maps created using this software were used in planning and logistics and avoided the expense of CAD in non-critical situations.

A 3D virtual tour allowed the council to communicate the selected site layout to various stakeholders, providing flexible walk-throughs before the site was installed.

A promotional map was available to the public via the tall ships website. This map allowed users to zoom into the various themed areas of the site, finding out more about specific features through various information links. Certain aspects of the map generated revenue through sponsored links. The promotional map was also used in print form throughout the event.

Testimonial

“When I originally asked Animmersion what they could do for us to show the sheer size and scale of the Tall Ships Village I had no idea that the final product would be so good. The site plan has been invaluable to us in our planning and has really helped people to envisage what the event site will look like. The Animmersion guys are really professional and easy to work with and I would certainly recommend them for any future projects”
